Chapter Nine Page 17
Patrick: We aren’t the “next level ” of anything human. We’re bodies. That’s all. “Comfort ” doesn’t have anything to do with it — would you ask a rock or a phone how comfortable it is with its shape?
Humans have bodies . . . but you are so much more. You can write things. Create and invent new things, out of thin air. You can make decisions based on nothing but your own ideas. When you’re alone, that can be okay.
If you love someone, it’s as an equal. You don’t have to keep loving them if they hurt you.
The way you look to us . . . it ‘s completely different from animals. It isn’t like stars either, but you shine.

“If you love someone, it’s as an equal. You don’t have to keep loving them if they hurt you.” — And I’m back to fully supporting Mandy’s crusade against her father.
so any ideas on what his ‘older’ form is? everyone looks stunned, is it recognisable or just in awe at what he saying?
In Tina’s case, it’s mostly that she thinks he looks like a Disney prince. A furry-friendly Disney prince.
I can’t be the only one who likes the way he’s presenting the fox plushie.
Damn straight we’re humans, buddy. *Flying the banner of mankind*
Nice.
I love how he’s finally really voluntarily expressing an opinion of his own. :’)
… funny that by expressing his own opinion he undermines the opinion he’s expressing :-). I mean, it’s his own decision, perhaps even his idea … true, humans are better at this, but apparently beings ARE capable of own decisions.
And all their minds are blown. Most of the furries/otherkin I’ve known think being human is terrible, and go down their path because they’re seeking a better way to feel whole. And here’s Patrick, who lives their dream, telling them how special they are for being human.
I really like this response. As someone who once modded (and still attends) a forum where many otherkin types have shown up it can frustrating explaining this kind of thing.
I really, really think that Patrick’s phrasing in the last panel is a reference to something but I can’t pinpoint what. Anyone have a clue?
Wow, I normally prefer boys with long hair, but I am liking this princely form. Wow.
