And how’s Jany doing…?
Jany: I got it! It took two hours of standing in line, but I got his autograph!
Where do you want to go next, Yamagatafan?
Yamagatafan: Sorry, saturn39, I have to run. Meeting some other friends for dinner. I’ll see you at the concert, though!
Jany: But . . . my plan for the day was to hang out with you . . .
Kara Lynn: What is this concert she mentioned? I don’t remember you talking about it . . .
Jany: That’s because I can’t afford to go! I only had enough money to get to the convention — concerts cost extra!
Kara Lynn: Well, at least you got the autograph! That was your dream, right?
Jany: Yeah . . .

I know this feeling. Spent too much money just going somewhere that you can’t afford to do anything there.
First time at a “Renaissane Fair” was an eye opener on this one for me. Between making the outfit, the cost of gas, and getting in, could barely afford eat while inside and only walk around and look at stuff. Turns out those fairs are really just one big flea market for niche items and con-artists to pretend to be fortune tellers and overpriced games.
2o dollars to play darts with hatchets!?
and everything was so expensive!
same for comicbook conventions, anime conventions, ect…
Oh no Rhuen!
Which Ren Fair did you go to? I experienced one in Gulf Coast of Florida like what you described. But the one in near my home town that takes place in Holly, Michigan is much much better. Tickets arn’t horrible, and neither is the food for the most part (drinks are overpriced)… but there’s so many free shows. (You could spend the whole day sitting and laughing at them or enjoy many of the music performances.)
I hope you can see a better one some day. ^_^
Well … at least this means she has plenty of time to talk with Patrick now :-)
