Okay, new feature time — let’s see if this takes off. I’m going to try to put together weekly rec lists of other webcomics I enjoy. Every week will have a theme, so if you have other favorites along the same lines, name them in the comments!

Today’s theme is Magical Girls. (Leaving out Sailor Moon fancomics, which we’ll save for their own post.)

Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki — Comedy/drama story, ongoing. A male mahou shoujo fan gets his ultimate wish (sort of) in being infused with the powers of a champion of the Norse gods. Just so happens he has to be genderbent in the process…and when he detransforms he doesn’t turn back.

Mechagical Girl Lisa A.N.T. – Comedy story, discontinued. Our heroine lands herself a robot battlesuit and gets swept into the fight between a group of alien ants and their rivals, alien termites.

Angel Moxie – Comedy/drama story, finished. Three girls versus extradimensional demons. Starts as a sendup of any and all magical girl tropes; by the end it’s also a heartfelt example of them.

Gorgeous Princess Creamy Beamy – Comedy, short arcs, discontinued. Our heroine gains her powers by eating massive amounts of junk food. That single gag carries through a surprising amount of comic.

The Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi – Comedy/drama story, crossover fancomic, ongoing. Every character from Cartoon Network’s original series, and quite a few from Nickelodeon’s, move into the same city and get involved in various epic battles. As you do.

The Nonadventures of Wonderella – Comedy, mostly gag-a-day, ongoing. Okay, this is about Western-comic superheroines rather than magical girls. But I’m putting it here anyway, because it’s very funny.
